130 year old historic home in Washington County, near Grimes County line, declared total loss after fire

April 6, 2022 by Andre Perrard

A historic home near Navasota was destroyed by a fire on Monday.

That was in the 18000 block of FM 2726 just outside town in Washington County. The home was 130 years old, and in the process of renovations after storm damages in 2020. There was no one present, but the home was entirely destroyed.

The home was built in the 1880s, and changed ownership through the years. It was a home, a cattle ranch, and was bought 10 years ago by a couple that was renovating it currently.

No word on what caused the fire.
