Nearly half of the Navasota Independent School District’s seven schools have been rated as “improvement required,” so the district’s interim superintendent plans on reinforcing the most basic necessity for educational success, reading.
Ray Mathews says Navasota’s Junior High, and Brule and John C. Webb Elementary Schools have all been judged to need improvement. And, he adds, the district had already begun the reading initiative by the time he arrived.
And to further aid your children, he continues, teachers have begun setting aside more time to both scrutinize student skills and improve whatever isn’t making the grade.
And though he only has untill around the end of the year to make a positive impact on the NISD, Mathews tells Navasota News he looks forward to doing whatever he can in that time to help make our kids successful. And we at Navasota News wish him the best of luck in the pursuit of that end.
