Grimes County has hit a new, grim total in the weekly COVID-19 update, as the county has surpassed 1,000 total cases since March.
According to the release, the county has seen 1,032 cases total, which is an increase of 62 new cases from last week. Active cases, however, managed to fall quite a bit, dropping 26 cases, to bring the county active cases total to 179, with 88 of those in Navasota.
A big jump was reported with recoveries this week, adding 86 of them, to bring the total recoveries since March to 821, with 417 of the recoveries in Navasota.
No new deaths were added, and the running county death total sits at 24 for the time being.
There was also another large jump in test numbers, over 1,000 again, as 15,958 tests have been performed i Grimes County.
On the Texas Department of Criminal Justice side of things, both units in Grimes County remain on the TDCJ COVID-19 dashboard. For the Pack Unit, there are eight currently active cases, with 2 of them offenders and 6 of them employees. That is up from just 4 overall active cases last week.
At the Luther Unit, they saw a large decrease in active cases, dropping from 28 to just 14 this week, with six of those offenders and eight of them employees.
