The latest COVID-19 update for Grimes County pushes the number of total cases over 900 since the beginning of the pandemic.
According to the release sent on Tuesday afternoon, the county has seen 930 cases total during 2020, which was up 66 new cases from last week. Active cases saw another jump post Thanksgiving, with 188 cases currently active in the county, an increase of 26 from last week’s update. There are 83 active cases in Navasota.
More news came in the recovery side again, with an addition of 36, to bring the total to 718 recovered since March 2020. Of those, 367 recoveries have been in Navasota.
One new death was added to the running total, which now stands at 23 since March 2020. That death was not necessarily recorded from the last week, and may be from previous months.
13,168 tests have been performed in Grimes County in total.
On the Texas Department of Criminal Justice side, the two units in Grimes County remain on the TDCJ COVID-19 dashboard. At the Pack Unit, according to the dashboard, there are 10 active cases, with 4 offenders and 6 employees. At the Luther Unit, they currently see 26 active cases, with 15 of them offenders and 11 of them employees.
