The Bryan city council is moving ahead with the idea of a superpark.
That followed a presentation from staff and a consultant during Tuesday’s council workshop.
Using Veterans Park as a measuring stick, at least 140 acres of land is needed.
Boting the location has not been determined, architect Wayne Cooper…who is the mayor pro-tem of Pflugerville…showed what could be done at the municipal golf course.
The option Cooper says has the most internal support out of three that were presented includes 17 synthetic turf fields…with 75 parking spaces for each of the fields.
Ten fields would be for baseball and softball, three for soccer, and four for either football or soccer.
Known as “Option A”, it also includes nearly 20 covered pavilion areas along with picnic pads, a trail system, sand volleyball, and tennis and badminton courts.
Option “A” also has a skate park, disc golf, a playground, a trail system, and an amphitheater.
Deputy City Manager Hugh Walker says no location has been determined, the $10 million dollar cost for fields and infrastructure is an early estimate, and the proportion of public access versus tournament play has not been decided.
The council agreed to take inventory of all available city-owned land and not buy land for the superpark.
