More big changes for Navasota Intermediate. The recently reconstituted school that has already implemented several new ways to learn is now adding another, more sporty method: Classroom Champions.
Principal Todd Nesloney says, the program, including track and field paralympian mentor Jerome Singleton, Jr., is being piloted school-wide.
Athletes will make one video a month about life lessons that teachers will incorporate into their lesson plans.
In his experience, Nesloney tells Navasota News, both he and his students loved being part of the program.
Unfortunately, Nesloney explains, due to the size of this endeavor, the school is not getting any of the technology typically associated with the program.
He says next year the school will have two athlete mentors just in time for the Summer Olympics.
He hopes to be given equipment like tablets, tvs and laptops to go along with the video conferences and chat sessions with the sports stars.
