Even with questionable weather surrounding the event, participants of this year’s Bob Whitten Memorial Golf Tournament still enjoyed their round on the links.
The Chamber of Commerce’s Matt Carter, tells Navasota News because of the weather, there was even talk of postponing the event. Add too that, turn out this year was a lot smaller than they had hoped. But in the end a total of ten teams played, and three came out on top.
1st place Team MidSouth
2nd place Team Navasota Fire Department
3rd place Team Jared Patou
Outside of the cash prizes, there were also single hole contests, the newest addition to the tournament. The prizes, Carter continues, included a ten inch tablet, a yeti cooler and a free car.
He says, in the six years he’s been helping run the tournament no one has been able to bag the car.
The tournament is one of three events the chamber holds each year to raise funds to keep membership costs down. Carter says, he expects the tournament to have raised around $10,000.
