As the City of Navasota continues to grow, so does its government. And to cope with the growing responsibilities that come with that, City Manager Brad Stafford has created a new position, and has chosen Navasota Police Chief Shawn Myatt to fill it.
Stafford tells Navasota News he’s been on the lookout for someone who could take on this challenge for some time now, and it’s in large part due to Myatt’s leadership in crafting a strong police department over the past eight years that makes this appointment possible.
So in addition to his duties as Chief, Stafford explains, Myatt will also assume liaison duties with city police, fire, marketing and communications, parks and recs, tourism and facilities and maintenance departments.
Chief Myatt officially assumed those new duties monday(10/1) along with an undisclosed bump in pay.
And, Stafford adds, we can look for Myatt to be wearing both hats for some time to come.
