The Iola School District is waiting on DPS to finish its investigation of a train crash resulting from an off-duty school busdriver’s failure to yield to it.
Iola Superintendent Chad Jones tells Navasota News, the 46-year-old Hyla Raysor-Shivers was life-flighted to St. Josephs in Bryan but was released soon after, luckily with only some bumps and bruises.
But her luck may or may not hold out, Jones continues, depends upon what DPS has to say.
Jones defended Raysor-Shivers, saying in her years as a driver her record has been spotless, but at the same time he adds, he understands the seriousness of the incident.
Iola ISD will not take a position on Raysor-Shivers employment, he continues, until DPS has completed its investigation.
Iola is a tight knit family, Jones says, adding that his door is always open to any concerned parents. Keep it on 1550 for more on this story, as it continues to develop.
