A group of concerned citizens has begun planning for what’s being called “Christmas with Us,” and Event Organizer Perry Elam hopes it will become a seasonal celebration.
Elam tells Navasota News one of the things finalized in last month’s meeting was the lighting and placement of the Christmas tree.
Several local businesses, Elam continues, and even the Boy Scouts are participating in the inaugural year.
“It’s time to put our differences aside,” he goes on, “we are declaring 2015 the year of the family and we are family here in Grimes County.”
Elam says, they are asking everybody to volunteer; from individuals to banks with community reinvestment programs. Some folks have even started a community choir to sing at the event.
Christmas with us planners will meet again Thursday (10/16) evening at 6 in the Courthouse Junction Texas Restaurant, 1033 hwy 90 in Anderson. For more information, call 1-936-244-50-46.
