A 23-year-old Navasota man is behind bars today, after pleading guilty to his part in a three-day crime spree in College Station last July, involving three separate incidents of robbery.
After robbing a convenience store and a home invasion, Brazos County Assistant D.A.’s John Brick and Clay Kimburough tells Navasota News they believe Karvin Steptoe’s third robbery was his downfall.
According to the College Station P.D., while Steptoe was robbing a Max Food Mart, numerous officers were detaining his alleged get-away driver, identified as 21-year-old Kesnick Jones. Steptoe reportedly evaded the officers by leaving in the then-emptied vehicle.
But he was later both located and re-arrested in Navasota.
While Steptoe is facing three and a half decades behind bars, Jones is currently charged with both evading arrest and aggravated robbery, and if eventually convicted, he could spend the rest of his life in prison and face $10,000 in fines.
