Christmas may have come early for the County of Grimes, at least in part, as one of the primary concerns frequently voiced about the infamous 249 toll road may have been put to rest, with the signing of a Memorandum of Understand by the City of Navasota and TxDot.
City manager Brad Stafford tells Navasota News, he refutes what Grimes Citizens Advisory Group’s David Tullos claims, that the toll road would wind up costing the city in taxes and revenue while making things harder on emergency services.
Stafford explains, 249 was always supposed to go through Navasota. The only question is where. But after rumors of a bypass began, he started making phone calls and The MoU was the result.
And while Stafford admits that he won’t go so far as to predict that a bi-pass will never happen, he insists it is not in the plans at this time.
