It’s official. In the most substantive and certainly unexpected decision of his short term in office, Grimes County Judge Ben Leman just named the late Pam Finke’s rival in her last election, Gary Husfeld, to replace her as the county’s new Precinct 4 Commissioner.
Leman says, Husfled has a good sense of what the residents wants, so good in fact, that he came within a dozen votes of winning the Precinct 4 seat from the multi-term Finke outright.
And that’s not the only reason, leman tells navasota news, he finally tapped Husfeld, out of the dozen names he was considering, as he has extensive personal knowledge in construction.
The judge explains Husfeld’s career and experience will also greatly aid the county in its current efforts to grow economically and in its strategic planning initiative.
Husfeld took his oath of office Wednesday morning at the county courthouse. His first appearance on the court will be at the next regular session on April 14th, and he will initially serve a little less than two years before the voters get to have their say in the next election.
