The new Grimes County Judge is demonstrating a desire for details, taking due diligence to a new level and court sessions to new lengths.
During last week’s nearly three-hour commissioners court session, for example, prior to unanimous approval to auction off a dozen old county vehicles, Judge Ben Leman questioned Road and Bridge Engineer Bob Cochran for almost a half an hour on his request.
Then, hoping to maximize the county’s return, Leman offered Cochran some advice from his own business background.
Cochran said he didn’t think piggy-backing was needed, however, because at the last auction he got two thousand bucks for a truck with no paint, no wheels and a blown engine, a result he characterized as “phenomenal.”
Also phenomenal, Cochran reported that over two consecutive days this last month, Grimes got up to eight inches of rain, closing a total of nine txdot, and 26 county roads.
