Residents from all over Grimes County and even further away pitched in last weekend to help Navasota’s Valenta family raise funds to bury their three-year-old son, who was tragically killed on Good Friday by a family horse.
Hallmark Cleaner’s Jessica Valla tells Navasota News, a flurry of residents, not only from Grimes County, but others in the Brazos Valley also took part in last Saturday’s bake sale. And the sight of so many folks coming together she admits, gave her chills.
Valla says, she had to make a few trips back and forth to restock the tacos and in the end sold around 300. And with the donations of sweets and goodies they were able to raise around $3,000 for the beleaguered family.
And even though the reason so many folks from here and afar gathered was admittedly morbid circumstances she adds, this is what makes our county and our home so great.
