After the first Navasota School Board meeting following voters’ sound rejection of two incumbent members, Superintendent Rory Gesch tells Navasota News, it appears to him both freshly-minted members Greg Mock and Jennifer Ramirez are raring to go, adding they’ll need to be with a growing list of challenges set before them.
Gesch reflected for us on what he sees as the roots of the current voter discontent; growing mistrust between the district and its residents, stemming from poor communication on it’s part, accountability and the recent reconstitutions.
As to the new board members appointment, he shrugged it was the community speaking its mind about the drive and passion in both Moke and Ramirez that resonated with them.
And Gesch predicted there will be a long road ahead for the new School Board as it searches for ways to both keep class sizes down and utilize the full force of the NISD employees on a decreased budget.
