For the past five years, the Grimes Health Resource Center has been dishing out meals to needy local seniors, and this summer it is looking for more mouths to feed.
The center’s Laura Meece tells Navasota News, any program funds allocated here but not used here will eventually be moved to a different county. So the center wants to be sure that before that happens everyone who is in need of service, receives it.
And, she adds, the seniors who are serviced by her program receive so much more than just a meal but also someone to talk to if only for a few minutes.
Not too long ago, Meece continues, the program regularly fed upwards of 40 Grimes County seniors, but lately that number has dropped. So while funding to feed more is still available in grimes and if you think you are eligible, Meece urges, don’t hesitate to call.
