With the school year behind us, your kids are in the midst of their long-awaited summer vacation. But if they can use a few free square meals a week, the Navasota School District’ Child Nutrition Program will take care of that at it’s Junior High School.
Unfortunately, the programs Wyvetta Franklin tells Navasota News, some families just don’t have enough food over the summers. And that is why the program provides hot breakfasts and lunches four days a week, including the normal school food staples, such as eggs, cereal, fresh fruit and pizza.
During summer school the program always has a great turn out, Franklin continues, but when there is no school, not so much. So she hopes you and your kids can help fill the void and make sure the food goes to the right place.
The NISD’s Summer Feeding program restarts Monday July 13, and will run through the end of the month. Breakfasts are served from 7-8:30 and Lunches from 11-12:30. The Program is completely free for kids to attend and for adults lunches costs $2.50 and dinner is $3.75. Franklin reiterates you don’t need to be part of the district to use the program.
