A high speed chase through the County of Grimes late last week that led Sheriff’s Deputies from just outside Navasota to Montgomery County, ended with the death of a young Houston motorcyclist.
Sheriff Don Sowell tells Navasota News a deputy first spotted the motorcyclist on Highway 6 going almost 100 miles per hour last Thursday, and despite his efforts, the rider would not pull over.
Sowell says because of the rider’s actions, he called for an intersection’s closure to prevent any chance of a crash, and to hopefully get 22 year-old Brandon Wyatt to stop.
But the chase continued, the Sheriff says, as State Troopers and Montgomery County Law officials joined in the pursuit. Unfortunately though, he reports his deputies lost track of Wyatt just west of Dobbin.
It wasn’t long after that, Sowell goes on, they heard a report over the radio that the chase was over. The Department of Public Safety reports Wyatt took a bad turn on Old Highway 105 and crashed. And he was pronounced dead at the scene.
