One small Grimes County Civic Club is looking to the web for donations to keep its cool, as it attempts to deal with the Texas heat.
Bob Templeton tells Navasota News, the Keith Civic Club used to host all different manner of events, including guest speakers, ice cream socials and even a polling location during elections. But, with the lack of air conditioning and current hot weather, it has been reluctant to host anything.
And that’s where the internet comes into play. Templton says one of the club’s guest speakers told him about a crowd-funding website, where people all over the world can donate, simply with the press of a button. Templton reports, it’s a non-profit 501C3, so your donations are tax deductable.
If you’d like to come see for yourself what the Keith Civic Club is all about, he continues, come to the monthly meeting at 6:30 this evening (7/23) in the club’s beleaguered building, just off county road 172, from fm 244 south of Iola.
Or it’s too hot for that, you can donate until August 21st from anywhere there’s a computer attached to the internet. Just go to www.redbasket.org/563
