Even though the Navasota School Board chose not renew her contract for next year, it joined with the Navasota isd Education Foundation last week in honoring former grant-writer Dr. Dawn Marie Baletka with a reception in her honor in the board room.
Since her dismissal, she said has spent more time with her family, adding that she has decided to accept an invitation to remain a member of the county wide drug free initiative.
Baletka told Navasota News she still loves the Navasota community, that she will treasure the memories from here forever, and assured the School Board members that she holds no hard feelings against them.
Baleka reported the board cited economic reasons for not renewing her contract, and that its members are the only ones who know the real reason behind her dismissal. She did acknowledge, however, that her salary had been part of funding from grants she had written.
She also added that no one, no matter how skilled, is irreplaceable. And she truly believes the school district and school board will continue to succeed if they work hard and work together in trying to give the community’s kids the best.
