It’s that time of year again when the Grimes County Poor Boys break out some delicious rib-eyes to raise money in support of their support of our young folks. What’s different this time is that this year they celebrate their first quarter century.
Poor Boys’ Charlie Pasket tells Navasota News it was 25 years ago that the original members first decided to pool their money together to buy county fair projects that didn’t get much attention. And, he continues, the group hasn’t slowed down since then.
Every year, Pasket reports, the Poor Boys add 100 new members on average, and much like it’s ranks, the number of groups in the county also dedicated to helping kids at the county fair has been steadily growing.
And to celebrate its silver anniversary this Saturday, he continues, the group will have some extra enticing items up for auction; like fire-pits, hand-made domino tables and even a few loads of limestone and concrete for your own use.
Pasket says dinner will start at 5:30 and the auction at 7 Saturday (08/01) evening at the expo center. Dinner plates are $15 for adults and $10 for kids 12 years-old and younger, for more information call 936-825-8139
