Just as the Grimes County Court welcomed a new member this week, it found out the county will now have to say good-bye to its Road and Bridge Engineer.
County Emergency Coordinator David Lilly may have revealed a clue as to why, beginning this week’s session with high praise for both Bob Cochran and his crew for the long hours they’ve put in over the last few months correcting the extreme erosion caused by recent heavy rain and flooding.
Then, following nearly four years of service to the County of Grimes, the three-decade TxDot Engineer followed Lilly at podium to officially give his two-weeks notice.
Afterwards, Cochran told Navasota News that he and his wife, Jeanie, will soon be leaving the county to try their hand at their own business. He said the only regrets he has in making that decision are the many friends he has made here that he will now be leaving behind, and that he was not able to full-pave the county’s road network during his four year tenure here.
