For the first time in history… the Sheriff of Grimes County has been elected to the Sheriff’s Association of Texas. Sheriff Don Sowell was elected as president last month at the 137th annual training conference in San Antonio.
Sheriff Sowell tells Navasota News, with the way the system works, once elected by his peer’s from the 253 other Texas counties, he then worked his way up to be president.
Sowell remains modest though, saying he just got to know people over the years going to the conferences. And adds, he’ll be the president for the next year and will represent the association at different conferences.
All total Sowell will have served on the board for six years, he says, and he’s been the sheriff of Grimes County since before the turn of the century; since 1998.
Congratulations to Sheriff Sowell as he assumes this leadership role for the Sheriffs’ Association of Texas.
