A 79-year-old Navasota resident who is facing multiple charges of pedophilia in Brazos County, is back on the streets today, following his arraignment last week. Jimmy Ralph Mathis faces three felony charges; a first degree, a second degree and a third degree, each alleging the sexual abuse of a child.
According to court documents, Mathis was first arrested this past August, and then again in September, each time being taken to the Brazos County jail, where he was accused of sexual contact with, exposure to, and assault of a child, then bonding out on both occasions.
Probable cause statements obtained by Navasota News reveal Mathis is alleged to have made repeated sexual contact over the past six years with each of two female adolescents, who were as young as 5-to-6-years-old at the time.
The incidents came to light after one of the, now 16-year-olds was interviewed by Brazos County Child Protective Services, and again at a child advocacy center in Bryan. And then one of the other minor’s parents contacted, and was then interviewed by the Brazos County Sheriff’s Department.
Mathis was arraigned at his pretrial in the 272nd District Court, after which he once again bonded out.
