There was much relief felt in City Council Chambers last week at City Manager Brad Stafford’s news that the city’s federal grant applications won’t be in jeopardy any more due to unfinished county paperwork.
This was especially welcome news as Mayor Burt Miller told council the NPD was hoping to use a federal grant to purchase body cameras for its officers and with this qualification met, the department is back in the running.
Council also tackled a pair of construction projects, last Monday. Future artists in Residence of the Historic Horlock House will have a place to park (if they have vehicles) after council awarded the contract to Texcon General Contractors.
And it looks like the Navasota Library will have to suffer a leaky roof for bit longer after City Finance Director Lance Hall recommended council reject all bids for a new roof.
Council deliberated and agreed to rebid the project for a metal roof and hire an engineer to define the libraries future needs.
