Grimes County non-profits are being reminded to get their 501-c-3 paperwork together, as applications are being currently accepted for the State Employee Charitable Campaign. Through the SECC program, approved non-profits can see some donations come their way from state employees looking to give a part of their paycheck to a worthy cause.
But, the United Way’s Lindsey LeBlanc says, the united way is heading up the sign-up effort in the Brazos Valley and adds there are a few requirements that need to be met for organizations to be accepted into SECC.
For instance; non-profits will need to prove they benefit the health and well-being of others, be open for at least 20 hours a week, have a locally listed phone number, and so forth.
LeBlanc tells Navasota News these non-profits can’t just walk into a state office and ask for donations. But through the program, these organizations and charities can get their names in front of government employees who are looking to give.
But remember, she warns, you have to have it mailed or delivered to:
909 Southwest Parkway East, College Station, Tx 77840
By 5 Friday evening, March 25.
