Look for our local Rattlers Convenience Stores to undergo a name change as the company undergoes a change of ownership. Currently, the Navasota-based chain is a branch of Kolkhorst Petroleum, and the company CEO thinks now is a good time for him to bow out.
Jim Kolkhorst wants to assure the current Rattler Store Staff that they should not worry about their jobs, as Sonoco Lp. (owner of Stripes Convenience Stores) will need them and doesn’t want them to leave.
Kolkhorst tells Navasota News his decision to sell his stores boils down to a matter of size and competition.
And to stay in the game, Kolkhorst admits, would require a big investment to increase the size of the operation, and that is a risk that he is just not comfortable with making.
The deal has yet to be finalized, says the CEO, adding that his future plans are to expand Kolkhorst Petroleum’s original agricultural and commercial fuel business, focusing more on lubricants and also expanding his fast-food ventures.
