Round up your shotgun, then bring it ‘round to the grimes county sheriff’s gun range this weekend, to help raise money for a memorial park to honor local law enforcement officers who’ve passed on.
Grimes County Crime Stoppers’ Dianna Westmoreland says the Turkey Shoot will host several rounds of rounds; each with a handful of shooters who will pay about ten bucks each. And should your shot land closest to the bulls-eye, you’ll split the pot with crime stoppers.
Westmoreland tells Navasota News there will be a round about every ten minutes, with a few special rounds thrown in which can cost up to twenty bucks each.
And even if shooting ain’t your style, she adds, you can break out a lawn chair and enjoy a bite to eat.
Plans call for the park to be built nearby the Sheriff’s Office, Westmoreland continues, and your participation would go a long way towards making it a reality.
The inaugural Grimes County Crime Stoppers Turkey Shoot begins at 10am Saturday September 17th at the County Law Enforcement Center Shooting Range on FM 149. Only twelve, sixteen and twenty-gauge shotguns will be allowed.
