After almost a decade of service under his belt, Navasota Independent School District Board Trustee Donald Lemon resigned Monday last week, accusing school board members of exceeding their authority and of unprofessional conduct.
In his resignation letter to School Board President Greg Mock, Lemon alleges board members have been allowed to make demands of and even micro-manage the staff of the NISD administration.
He also says he feels the results of a recent survey about the board’s performance may have been tainted, because online comments told the board to fix some problems, while comments made in person mentioned none.
As he leaves, Lemon tells Navasota News he hopes the board will act more professionally in the future and leave personal vendettas far away from the Board’s meetings.
As for parents, Lemon suggests you stay informed and invested in the board’s actions and always vote your conscience.
And as the School Board moves forward after Lemon’s resignation, Navasota News will keep you up to date on what happens next.
