There’s a new way for Grimes County ag-producers and others across the country to connect with the Farm Service Agency, and you don’t even need the internet. all you need is a regular cell-phone with the ability to text-message.
While these text message alerts won’t replace the email system, the FSA’s Jessica Gonzales say with only 68% of Americans owning a Smartphone and only 73% having access to the internet, a whopping 92% have cell-phones, so this new service will give her offices a brand new spectrum to keep you informed about sign-up deadlines, new programs and other tid-bits to help out.
And just like with their e-mail, Gonzalez tells Navasota News the FSA will only send out a few text-messages a month. Actually, no more than two.
But if you’d like to get these messages, you’ll need to text T-X-Grimes to 3-7-2-6-6-9 (f-s-a-now). There is no deadline to sign-up. For more information, call 979-846-48-14, extension 2.
