Grimes County’s Go Texan Committee has another $26,000 to help Grimes County youth today, thanks to the 2017 Go Texan Weekend at the Grimes County Expo Center (Fairgrounds).
The Swangerettes took 1st place in the new Bobby Harris Invitational for their incredible beans, with Hell of a Bunch coming in 2nd, and Bottom of the Barrel appropriately taking 3rd.
Swangerettes were also prolific among the 44 entries in the Chili Division, with Swangerettes #1 coming in 1st and Swangerettes #3 taking 3rd, with PGS Landscaping taking 2nd.
The Game Day Cookers were Best of Show this year, while Sop N Mop was declared the High Point Team Overall Champion, as well as 2nd place among the 76 Rib entries. High Voltage made this year’s best ribs, with MC Cookers taking 3rd.
There were also 76 entries in the Chicken division this year, with the Apolonia Misfits taking 1st place, followed by High Maintenance #1 at 2nd, and the D5 Cookers bringing up the rear.
The Dollar Bills will be going to Houston next year, for capturing 1st out of 63 entries in the Country Barbecue Division, followed by PGS Landscaping #1 2nd, and Super Chango #2 3rd.
Super Chango #1 took 1st place out of the lucky 13 entries in Open Barbecue, followed by PGS Landscaping #1 at 2nd, and the Tomball Cookers 3rd.
And congratulations to this year’s Li’l Mr. and Miss Go Texan, Bentley Isbell and Brianna Anderson.
