A young Navasota man suspected of burglarizing a total of three Grimes County homes over the last week in January was last reported residing in the Grimes County Jail on a one hundred thousand dollar bond.
Grimes County Sheriff’s Investigator James Ellis says all of the burglaries occurred during the day, to unoccupied homes in the area of FM 3090 and FM 149 West.
One of the victims, Ellis reports, was only away for about an hour and had left her home unlocked for her cleaning lady.
The other two victims were away most of the day, finding their homes broken into upon returning. And it was evidence found at one of those break-ins, Ellis continues, that led them to arrest 18-year-old Charles Brison Jones.
During interrogation, Ellis says Jones, who has a previous record as a minor, confessed to his involvement in all three burglaries, which has led to the recovery of some of the stolen property.
At this time, Ellis says Jones is charged with one count of burglary of a habitation, a 2nd degree felony, punishable by up to two decades behind bars and a ten thousand dollar fine. Other charges are pending as the investigation continues. And as it does you’ll hear about it here on Navasota News.
