Coal Car Cadaver ID’d

April 22, 2017 by Willy1550

The body of a young Colorado man was discovered Friday Morning, April 14, on a train that had stopped at the local Texas Municipal Power Agency’s coal car unloading facility.

Grimes County Sheriff’s Investigator Kindale Pittman reports the body found inside one of the coal cars was pronounced dead at the scene by Precinct One JP Chris Accord, and following a thorough examination of the remains, including taking a set of fingerprints, an autopsy was ordered.

The body, eventually identified as 25-year-old Cameron Scott Day of Castle Rock, Colorado, was transported to the Central Texas Autopsy Center in Lockhart, where Pittman tells Navasota News that autopsy will be performed, with results expected within the next four to six weeks.

Pittman says they were able to determine that the individual had been a transient who frequently road trains. He said that information was supplied by Day’s family upon notification of his death.  And, although the exact cause of his demise will remain undetermined until the autopsy is complete, Pittman says there is no reason as of this time to suspect foul play.
