Not only will the City of Navasota continue its support of the Grimes Health Resource Center next year, following a presentation for city council, Navasota’s support for the GHRC, just like the services it provides the city’s residents, is on the rise.
Master Wellness Volunteer Connie Arden began by summarizing the center’s three strategic goals; to further help and promote the Grimes Health Resource Commission, to maintain the sustainability of the Grimes Health Resource Center, and to help promote the activities of Grimes Health Resources.
Arden then went on to detail the many programs and services that the Grimes Health Resource Center utilizes every day to fulfill those goals in our community; Lone Star Legal Aid, Telehealth Counseling Center, Voices for Children, Project Unity, health education, the Back to School Fair, the annual Coat Drive, and they partner with the Brazos County Food Bank.
And if you think that’s impressive, here’s Arden’s figures on what the center’s accomplished for the residents of the County of Grimes last year alone: Grimes Health Resource Center has delivered 5,330 meals to clients’ homes, served 2,944 congregant meals and transported 676 clients a total of 17,430 miles.
And Navasota City Council was impressed as well, unanimously voting to increase the city’s support of the Grimes Health Resource Center by 20% next year, from $5,000 to $6,000 a year.
