Navasota’s Home for the Holidays event this year brought rave reviews from the city’s Marketing Coordinator, Casey Ellis, who told Council that the beautiful weather equaled a good crowd.
Ellis reported shops all around downtown stayed busy and were pleased with the large crowds. And with 50 participants, Navasota’s Christmas Parade this year understandably impressed Councilmen Bernie Gessner and Grant Holt, as well as Mayor Bert Miller.
Gessner said it was the biggest and best parade he’s seen in the 40-some years he’s been here. Holt added he heard numerous people say how much better it was than the one in Bryan. To which Mayor Miller added, “That’s what it’s all about.”
And it wasn’t just Council who was impressed by the holiday event. Mayor Pro Tem Holt went on to explain how impressive parade also was for the massive number of folks who showed up to enjoy it.
To which Councilman Jeff Horn added . . . “And I missed it again.”
Horn then moved that the start of the parade next year be delayed two hours, to which Gessner quipped, “Or we could just have it in January.”
