In a proactive move against the wave of harassment charges all across the country, to hopefully head-off any potential problems with harassment claims here, Grimes County Judge Joe Fauth recently held a luncheon/training in the Go Texan Building at the Grimes County Fairgrounds.
Fauth came to the job of county judge with the skill-set of previously conducting training and development for clients, and thought that the segment on harassment would be an asset for Grimes County employees. So he invited all of Grimes County’s department heads and elected officials to the fairgrounds lunch and learn, where they enjoyed Commissioner Gary Husfeld’s magnificent chili and socialized.
And they went right into the workshop, Judge Fauth reports, where he detailed the elements of harassment, sexual harassment, and the responsibilities of both managers and employees to make sure everyone has an environment they feel safe working in.
Between the eating, the socializing and the training, Judge Fauth estimates the gathering lasted about two hours. but he tells Navasota News that the gist of the training can be summed up very quickly: “Do unto others as you would have others do unto you.”
And this one training is the beginning more than it is the end. Judge Fauth says he is setting-up three additional training dates for other county employees, just to be sure.
