Entergy Texas is warning customers of a potential scam.
In a press release from Entergy, the company says customers have been the target of scammers recently. There are variations to the scam, but the basic premise has stayed the same. The scammers call from a spoofed number, then tell the customer they have an hour to pay or their electricity will be cut off. They ask for the credit casrd number, or ask for a prepaid gift card or even electronic transfer.
Entergy says they will never demand immediate payment from customers over the phone or show up at your door demanding money on the spot. Entergy says to call them directly to speak with a representative if you are called by these scammers.
You can safely pay your bill online, pay by phone through the Entergy system, at their walk-in payment centers, pay by mail or set up auto draft.
If you need more information or you suspect you have been contacted by the scammers, call Entergy at 1-800-ENTERGY.
