One of Navasota ISD’s principals has won a state award.
Derek Bowman, principal at Navasota High School, was recently named the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals Region 6 winner of Principal of the Year. The awards are based upon overall performance and leadership.
Region six includes 15 counties, covering 57 school districts and 11 charter schools. The award makes Bowman eligible to compete for the title of State Principal of the Year.
In his time at NHS, Bowman is credited with several achievements, including the 2017 Sul Ross State University Education Excellence Award in Educational Leadership. He has also garnered the title of best principal in Grimes County in 2012, 2016 and 2018.
Each of the region winners will be recognized at the Josten’s Night of the Stars Awards on June 9th of 2020 in Dallas.
