The roads throughout Navasota have become a priority for the city, and will be getting necessary attention soon. At Monday night’s Navasota City Council meeting, the 2019 Fiscal year Street Improvement Program was up for approval.
Director of Streets and Sanitation Jose Coronilla presented the total cost of the 2019 project, which came out to $481, 767.
The roads included in the project will be portions of Neal, Teague, Johnson, Don, Houston and Brule. Coronilla explained too the reasoning behind picking those streets was strictly because it was easier utility line wise than others in the city.
“Every street we pick, it has an issue like that…and that is one of the reasons why we picked some of these streets over others, because the utilities are good underneath,” Coronilla said.
But what about the other roads that need work where sewer and utility lines are in need of replacement? City Manager Brad Stafford says something is in the works tot take care of those soon.
We are in the process right now…of working with our financial adviser to put together a package for consideration to begin the process of a large utility project, drainage and street project all in one,” Stafford said.
The city council approved the 2019 street Improvement program. The Council also approved an agreement with CEC Engineering for the project in the amount of $41,180.
