TXDOT proposing project at FM 2, Highway 6 in Grimes County

September 2, 2019 by Willy1550

Some new proposed changes have been introduced by TXDOT for improving safety on Highway 6 in Grimes County.

You have a chance to request a public hearing in regards to a proposed project at FM 2 on Highway 6, which would replace the current at-grade crossing with a grade-separated interchange.

The proposed project would be about 1.4 miles long, extending from 0.51 miles north of FM 2 to 0.53 miles south of FM 2. The project would create a typical main-lane section on Highway 6, with two 12 foot travel lanes bounded by 10 foot inside and outside shoulders, with ramps providing access to FM 2.
The existing interchange has two 12 foot travel lanes in each direction, with 12 foot left turn lanes, separated by a grass median.

The two bridges at Beason Creek would also be replaced on their current alignment at a higher elevation.

Requests for a public hearing must be submitted in writing on or before Thursday, September 19th. They can be submitted to the TXDOT Bryan District Office. For more information, call them at 979-778-2165.
