Authorities in Grimes county have rescued 15 neglected dogs near Plantersville.
A few videos, posted on Facebook, appears to show several dogs chained up in a wooded area near Plantersville. In the video, it is claimed that nearly 80 dogs were discovered, also saying they found many dog graves as well.
Authorities confirmed through sources later that the actual number was closer to 10-20 dogs. The Grimes County Sheriff’s Office obtained a warrant for the property and the Harris County Animal Cruelty Task Force assisted in rescuing 15 dogs total on Friday afternoon. The dogs were found chained to trees and living in poor conditions. There were no graves obviously found and no dogs were left on the property.
The caption on the video last week claims the dogs were being abused and used for fighting. Authorities said there was no evidence of that having taken place, but the dogs will undergo medical examination to prove that.
The owner of those dogs will face charges of Cruelty to Non-Livestock Animals.
According to the grimes County Sheriff’s office, they will be charging 27 year old DeMontrae Beck of Houston with 15 counts of that charge. The dogs’ ownership has been officially given to the Houston Humane Society by a judge. Beck will have 21 days to appeal the judges ruling.
Officials also say they were called to the property a year ago and talked with Beck then, but said the dogs were no where near the condition they were found in last week.
