A Saturday night crash in Grimes County claimed the life of one man on Highway 6.
It happened around 10:15 pm about 7 miles south of Navasota. A man in a 2016 Ford Fusion was driving eastbound on Highway 2 and ran the stop sign at the intersection of highway 6.
The Ford Fusion collided with a 2006 Mercedes Benz that was heading southbound on Highway 6.
The driver of the Ford Fusion was pronounced dead at the scene and identified as 24 year old Warren Samuel of Port Arthur. Sources said he was a correctional officer at the Luther Unit in Grimes County.
The man driving the Mercedes, identified at 24 year old Omar Kashu of Richardson, was taken to an area hospital with what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
