A man in northwest Montgomery County has been confirmed to have a presumptive positive case of COVID-19, also widely known as the Coronavirus.
The Montgomery County Public Health District and the Office of Emergency Management confirmed the issue on Tuesday afternoon. The final test has been submitted to the CDC for final confirmation.
The man, a patient in his 40s, is said to have visited the cook-off at the Houston Livestock show & rodeo, which was canceled entirely Wednesday afternoon. He did not attend any other concerts or events, according to Houston mayor Sylvester Turner at a press conference Monday.
It is unclear if he was showing signs of being sick at the time or not. Officials also say that the man had not traveled outside the country.
He is being treated at a local hospital. He is isolated, and official say the risk to the public is low.
The man’s identity and where he is being treated is not being released.
