Somerville has named its new interim police chief, while the city searches for their new one.
Retired DPS lieutenant Otto Arnim is taking over operations for the time being. He has more than 35 years in law enforcement, and previously ran for Sheriff in Uvalde County in 2020.
The move comes following the resignation of former police chief Craig Wise, and three officers, stemming from the controversy of possibly hiring former Harris County Sheriff’s Deputy Chauna Thompson.
City Administrator Danny Segundo said that it could take around one and a half to two months to find the permanent replacement for police chief.
Burleson County Sheriff’s Office has helped fill the void in service left by the departed officers as well.
