There were two new deaths added in the weekly Grimes County COVID-19 update, as the county adds 30 new cases to the running total.
In the news release sent out Tuesday, the county’s total number of cases since March 2020 is at 661, which is an addition of 30 cases from last week. Of those total cases, 328 since March have been in the city limits of Navasota.
Recoveries increased once again, jumping up 16, bringing the total recovered to 584, with 293 of those recoveries in Navasota.
Active cases, however, only jumped up 12, and the county now has 65 active cases. Of those, 35 of the active cases are in Navasota, which is an increase of just 2 from last week for the city.
As mentioned, there were two new deaths added to the running total, which is now at 13 since March.
9,283 tests have been performed in the county overall.
For the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, after having both units in Grimes County at zero cases last week, have both units on the active case list again. According to their dashboard, there are currently 8 active cases, two of them offenders, and six employees. At the Luther unit, there are 11 active cases, with five of those offenders and six of them employees.
