Navasota has seen some issues with illegal dumping in various dumpsters and parks around town. And while the city is responsible for cleaning it, it is hard for them to catch the perpetrators.
That, according to City manager Brad Stafford, is where you, the citizen’s, come into play.
“If you see someone dumping illegally…please let us and the police department know. Any place, anywhere you see that. I have reported multiple times of people dumping in dumpsters in downtown, when I know they do not own that business. That is actually a violation of the law. That is theft of service. Those businesses and owners are paying for that service. And, when you go and fill their dumpster illegally, that’s a violation of the law,” said Stafford during a recent Grilling Stafford episode.
Stafford added that they have taken illegal dumpers to court, and will do so if need be, when the perpetrators are caught. If you see illegal dumping, or have questions, contact the city.
