After a week with no update, the latest COVID-19 report for Grimes County adds just under 100 cases and two new deaths from the last report.
According to the release sent Monday afternoon, the county has seen a total of 1,143 cases since March 2020, which is up 98 from the last update on December 29th.
Active cases dropped off quite a bit, 67 to be exact, with 111 currently active cases in Grimes County. Of those, 56 active cases are in Navasota.
Recoveries saw a large jump again, as 1,012 total people have recovered, which was up from 868 two weeks ago. 497 of those recoveries have been in Navasota.
This release did add two new deaths to the running total, which is now at 27 since last March. Those may not have been deaths that occurred in the last two weeks, and may be from months prior.
There was another jump in number of tests as well, with 19,549 tests having been performed in the county.
For the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, both units in the county remain on their COVID-19 dashboard for having active cases.
At the Pack Unit, there are 11 active cases, up two from last update, with one an offender and ten employees.
For the Luther Unit, they sit at 16 active cases, down 12 from two weeks ago, with 1 an offender, and 15 of them employees.
