As COVID cases continue rising locally, more outlets for testing in Grimes County are becoming available starting this week.
Emergency Management Coordinator for the county David Lilly said at Wednesday’s Commissioner’s Court meeting that they are bringing weekly testing sites to multiple areas.
“This week, is just Friday and Saturday at the First Baptist Church of Navasota, this is the test run to see what kind of response we get…from 8 am until 5 pm. Then, next week, we will start regular testing for a month. That will be Thursday and Saturday. Thursday’s, it will be in Todd Mission, Bedias, and Navasota. On Thursday’s, testing in Navasota will be at the Navasota Center, and then Saturday’s will be at the First Baptist Church,” said Lilly.
And as Lilly notes, you can do all of this without ever leaving your car…
“This will be a drive-thru, you can pull up, have it administered….these are PCR tests, so it is not immediate results. They will get results, unusually, within 24 hours. They are free,” said Lilly.
“Hopefully, this will take a little pressure off the other folks, particularly Johnny McNally, and the primary care providers, and Bedias Clinic. All have gotten lots of requests for testing. So, hopefully, this provides the public with a few more options for being tested.”
Again, the test run is this week, and testing will be from 8 am until 5 pm at the First Baptist Church of Navasota, with weekly testing becoming available after that.
