Grimes County’s first animal rescue shelter is just months form finally coming to fruition.
Kristin Carrell of the Animal Shelter board stopped by to talk on our station about the recently approved floor plans.
“We have fundraised, substantially, all the funds we need to construct the building. We have picked the site, it will be on county land, behind the new Justice Center. As of very recently, we have entered a contract with a contractor to actually build the facility,” said Carrell. “We are having another fundraiser, too, to give us that final little push we need.”
That one final push will come in the form of a fundraiser they are holding this Saturday, called “A Cause for Paws”
“We will have a great BBQ dinner, drinks will be served by Lara’s Bartending, Derek Spence and his will be out there performing…we will have a live auction, then a lot of supporters from around the community who have been working a long time for this. It will be nice to have everyone together, and we will be there to answer any questions. A lot of people still have questions about who we are, and where we are going. So, anytime we can answer those, we want to,” said Carrell.
That fundraiser for the new animal shelter is happening Saturday, March 26th at the Grimes County Fairgrounds. The event will begin at 5:30 pm.
